'Walk With Me…Retraced'

A new walk taking place for 2014: Saturday 29th March 2 - 4pm
with artists Nick Gear & Sue Lea.

Starting at the Clarendon Street entrance of the Nottingham General Cemetery
running for approximately two hours.

Brief: Artists have always used the landscape as a source of inspiration.
Some have used the physical act of stepping out into the environment as
part of this creative process. Join with Nick & Sue to explore the urban world
of Nottingham, walking both familiar and new paths to induce a fresh notion of
creativity, moving forwards and back in retracing the landscape.

During the South Walk the artist Nick Gear collected photos, objects and text which has been combined into the piece shown here.

It reflects on the purpose for doing the walk as well as the landscape, in which the group Nick led, walked through.

Watch out for further information for the forthcoming 'Interlaced' walk in February 2013 as part of the Nottingham 'Festival of Words'.

Invitation to ‘Walk With Me…’ an Artists’ led charity walk

Four groups of 10 people, each led by an artist, will be making a walk into the centre of Nottingham, converging at the John Lewis Store, beginning from the North, South, East and West of the city.  See details below.
Come and join us!

Walk date:  Sunday 16th September 2012
Start time:  07.45. Please arrive by 07.30
Walk time: 2 hours (to arrive at the John Lewis store by 10am)
Distance: 3 ½ - 4 miles
Terrain: we will be walking on public footpaths and pavements for most of the way. There is a short climb on the North walk

Pencil, sketch/notebook, camera are optional or just come and enjoy the walk! The routes planned provide time and space to consider the contrasting urban landscapes, with opportunities to respond throughout.

Our arrival at the John Lewis store will mark the official opening of the 'Walk With Me...' exhibition, running from the 15th to the 21st of September.

The walk will be sponsored to raise money for the BROXTOWE Youth Homeless Service Charity, which is the John Lewis Nottingham Charity for 2012, and each participant will have details to direct their sponsors to the online giving site.

Please wear appropriate footwear and clothing (we plan to walk regardless of the weather), as well as a drink and snack. Refreshments will also be provided by John Lewis, on arrival at the store.
